The INTERACT+ project

EFDF participated in the EU’s Erasmus+ Program INTERACT+. The project ran from January 2023 until December 2025. Jörg Brenner presented EFDF as an active part, developing Capacity Building Workshops and promoting Flying Disc.

The INTERACT+ project (International and European Sport Organisations Activate Citizens), led by TAFISA (The Association for International Sport for All), is an initiative designed to empower sport organizations to promote physical activity and “Sport for All”.

After the end of two project phases being co-funded by the EU’s Erasmus+ Programme, INTERACT+ now is part of the SUCCEED framework within TAFISA. SUCCEED stands for „Supporting Communities Empowerment & Development through Sport for All“ and is led by TAFISA in collaboration with the IOC through its Olympism365 strategy.

With a particular emphasis on targeting International Sport Organisations (ISOs) and their members, such as National Federations (NFs) and sport clubs, the project aims to empower and encourage them to develop and promote “Sport for All” principles to reach all citizens, including those who are physically inactive or belong to underprivileged socio-demographic backgrounds.

Core Goals

  • Encourage Participation: Shift the focus of international and European sport organizations from elite competition toward grassroots participation and inclusive physical activity.
  • Capacity Building: Provide tools, toolkits, and training frameworks to help organizations adapt their rules and structures for wider community access.
  • Global Alignment: Help federations align their local goals with international frameworks like the WHO Global Action Plan on Physical Activity and UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The European Flying Disc Federation (EFDF) served as an official project partner in the TAFISA-led INTERACT+ project, acting as a primary bridge to integrate flying disc sports into the global “Sport for All” movement.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Leading Capacity-Building Workshops: EFDF co-developed and actively co-leads specialized on-site or online training modules. The EFDF Sport for All Advisor co-delivered all six INTERACT+ workshops being held during the second projcect phase to train national sports leaders on grassroots engagement. One of them was delivered to more than 40 participants from WFDF National member federations.
  • Promoting Inclusivity and “Spirit of the Game”: EFDF uses the unique, self-officiating nature of flying disc sports (like Ultimate Frisbee and Disc Golf) as a model for conflict resolution, fair play, and gender-inclusive community participation.
  • National and International Alignment: The EFDF leverages its network of over 30 European national member associations to translate theoretical INTERACT objectives into actual grassroots physical activities.
  • Driving Certification Milestones: Through EFDF’s close work within the project framework, its parent organization – the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) – became the first international sports body to be awarded the landmark INTERACT+ Diamond Sport for All Certification Level for structural inclusivity.

Any national or regional sport association can apply for an INTERACT capacity building workshop or for the INTERACT sport for all certification.
