EFDF European Ultimate Club Championships 2001

Dear European disc sports associations,

the organisation of this year's EUCC is moving forward and before we pass out the latest information in the next few days EFDF would like to ask for some feedback on one important topic.

During Worlds last year in Heilbronn the idea was raised to invite one team from the U.S.A., Canada and Japan to the EUCC for each division including a Juniors National team.

With the expected high level of these teams we believe the overall level of the event and the attractivness will be raised. Only club teams would be accepted, not "all-star" teams. And when they take part, we would have to accept that these teams will have the same opportunity as any other team to make it to play-offs etc.

After asking around at Heilbronn last summer, all European junior national teams (their coaches) wanted to have an international event organized every year. Therefore it seemed appropriate to include a Junior's event (for national teams) at the EUCC. The inclusion of the non-european Junior teams would increase the quality of this event, too.

Also, the participation of non-european teams helps to keep up the exchange between Ultimate in Europe and other continents.

It is clear that these teams will use up slots which could have been given to European teams. However, it seems certain by now that there will be enough field space and accommodation for plenty of slots and that all European countries should be able to send their best teams. Unfortunately we still do not have a useful idea about the number of European teams interested to come because our enquiry last year did not receive sufficient feedback.

We are just about to find this out, however. Soon you will receive the official invitation, and then info about this will be requested from each national association.
