EFDF European Ultimate Championships 1997
Tournament Director: Charlie Mead

Please find below an update on the progress being made on the European Ultimate Championships. Included in this pack are information books and pamphlets about Millfield School including maps of how to get there.

Can all National Association Organisers and registered teams please contact the correct team captains to make sure that all teams are given a chance to come to this Championship. I am particularly interested in all those teams who have not formally contacted me to confirm if they are coming or not, particularly Austria, Denmark, Hungary, Italy and Norway.

Registration and Payment.
Registration has been slower this year, mainly because of the uncertainty of Vancouver and whether club teams have been allocated a slot or not. Because of this I have decided NOT to charge any penalty fees to teams or players up to the final registration date. SO, teams and players can register as late as July 15th for the tournament with no extra fees to pay.

After this date no more teams may register but teams may add extra or new players up to the time of arrival at the tournament provided they are able to meet all eligibility requirements. All teams should complete and send the registration forms to me as soon as possible, if you have not done so already, especially to make sure you have your choice of accommodation booked. I include the information on accommodation and payment of fees again for your information.

Team and player registration.
All countries in Europe are eligible to send teams in the Open, Women, Master and Junior Divisions. Details on the eligibility of teams and players are included later.

Tournament costs.
Players and guests may choose from two accommodation options and a selection of other services. They are detailed below for your convenience.

All players will be transported from their accommodation to breakfast, the fields and back to their accommodation at night should it be necessary. Transport is not included in Option 2.
All players must pay the tournament fee, (Option 2) whatever their choice of accommodation.
For players or guests choosing Option 5 there are a range of options available. We will provide you with a list of available campsites, bed and breakfast and hotel options. The arrangements for these options and all costs will be the responsibility of individual players and teams.

Paying Arrangements.
All payment of tournament costs must be by direct debit from your bank account to the bank detailed below. Please pay all fees by electronic transfer. Please also pay all transfer and exchange costs BEFORE sending the correct fees. If you send cheques, money orders, Eurocheques etc., then the tournament will be charged and those charges will be passed back to you. It is cheaper for you to pay the charges at home rather than in England and will greatly speed up the registration process.

Send all fees by electronic transfer to:
EUC 1997
Lloyds Bank
32, Alcester Road South
Birmingham

The Bank Sort Code is: 30-94-74
The Account Number is: 0280722
The Account Name is: EUC 1997

Please be sure to clearly state where the fees are coming from by naming the National Association and the individual organising the transfer. Again, failure to do so will delay your registration.

Team Uniforms
This is a reminder of the regulations covering Uniforms as I am aware that you will be planning to order your shirts, shorts, socks etc. quite soon.
Shirts - It is mandatory that all players on a team wear shirts that match in colour and design in each game. The shirts are to be numbered in Arabic integral numerals in the range of 0 - 99, with unique numbers for each players of each team. The numbers should be sewn or printed on the backs of shirts and should be a minimum of 20 cm high and 5 cm wide. They should be located so that they are completely visible and have sufficient difference of colour to the shirt material to allow easy reading from a distance. Individual players must use the same shirt numbers throughout the tournament to facilitate administrative and statistical work. Teams may include player names on shirts if they wish, subject to the conditions outlined for sponsorship logos below.
Shorts - It is mandatory that teams wear shorts matching in colour and design in all games
Socks - It is recommended that teams wear socks matching in colour and design in all games. For teams playing in the final games of each division, matching socks are mandatory.
Sponsor Logos - The teams participating in Euro'97 are free to display sponsor logos on their uniforms as they wish. Each participating team retains the sole commercial rights to their team uniforms. However the following restrictions apply to sponsor logos on uniforms:
a) sponsor logos should be neatly printed or sewn onto uniforms. They should also leave enough of the original shirt uncovered to enable a spectator to distinguish from any direction the actual colour of the uniform
b) whilst teams are free to enter into sponsorship agreements with companies or individuals the tournament will not permit the display of any design, logo, team nick-name or other public expression that might offend other players or spectators. This includes offence on the grounds of race, colour, gender, religion or disability. If in doubt please contact me. Common sense and good taste should be your guidelines.

Team Rosters - Preliminary rosters for all national teams shall be sent to this office by July 15. A copy of the Roster can be found with this pack. The rosters will help with planning programme details and publicity material. The rosters must contain the following information about each player:
Full name
Jersey number
Date of Birth
Sex
Permanent address
Nationality
Any explanations regarding eligibility
Standard passport size photograph for ID Cards

These rosters do not commit teams to their final player selection for their squads.
Final rosters for all national teams will be submitted by team representatives at Registration on August 24th. No players may be added to the team roster after this time.
According to Article 105 of WFDF rules, a player who is eligible for more than one Ultimate division must choose the division they wish to compete in before the start of the tournament and may not compete in any other division for the duration of the tournament.
